I go to the gym daily as well as I believe in fitness and being as healthy as possible not only physically but mentally also. The gym helps me with that since it stimulates my mind and I just get more positive and confident in myself especially by looking at the amount of changes as I go on meaning weight gain (which I want), improved eating habits since I also need it to exercise and basically various enhancements.

In the rise of social media, there are various positive aspects, as well as negative. In this post, I’m going to focus on the positives.

The main and forth most advantage is the ability to connect with any individual, regardless of location. Two main examples of these are Facebook and Instagram. Facebook gives you the ability to share your thoughts, chat up with friends, and more.

Instagram does the same thing, except, unlike Facebook, it is more just showing off what is going on in each other’s lives through pictures.

Thanks to Facebook, I actually made a friend. Although I didn’t see her in person, our friendship has been strong for about five years now, and keeps growing. Even though we live a thousand of miles away, we make sure to not care about the distance.

As for Instagram, maybe I haven’t seen my friends for a long period of time because we are both busy. Instagram is a great way to find out what is going on in their lives, plus chat and catch up. With one of my friends, we normally use Instagram to chat and since we don’t see each other as much as we like, we at least make sure to update each other on the going-ons of our respective lives.

lt is also a good place for education. For example, these days I can read news about all the going ons of the world online if I don’t see it on television! As a marketer, it is good to stay updated on all the news possible.

Also, I love to play guitar. I find it very relaxing, peaceful and destressing. But what if I didn’t want to go to classes to learn how to play a song? Simple. I went to Youtube where they have all kinds of guitar tutorials. Since I was looking for a specific song to play, they had a lot of tutorials on that as well. I am a visual learner, so I learnt pretty quickly since I’m also a quick learner.

As you can see in the above picture, an expert is making a video on how to play a certain chord of the song I want to play. Due to this, I can imitate him on my guitar and play as well.

Digital advertising, a.k.a online advertising, is a type of marketing that uses the Internet to deliver messages, of promotions, rebates, and more! It can be sponsored ads as well, as non sponsored.

To start, I really like shopping for clothes, either online, or in a physical store.

A few months ago, I came across an online store called DressLily.com. Don’t get fooled; they don’t sell only dresses or clothes. They also sell carpets, pillows, mats, tapestries, etc. Especially since Christmas is coming soon, it is sure to be decorated for the holidays!

This store is solely online, which is in itself, an advantage, because its target audience, which are millennials and Gen Z mostly, are the technology generation. There are lots of coupons and the prices are affordable, and probably in budgets! I think they are more affordable than the actual physical stores!

I actually didn’t mind what type of apparel category it was, whether it was a sweater, a dress, a top, or anything else, so when I saw a sponsored ad on Instagram for a cold tunic shoulder sweater, I couldn’t help myself.

As you can see in the above picture, all I had to do was enter a coupon number to get a certain percentage/markdown off the original cost, which is usually how this site works as well. Judging by the number of comments and shares, it’s pretty popular!

I also saw sponsored ads of this site on Facebook, sometimes for the same product, or a different one, however, still some type of sweater. The social media platforms can track my likes and pages I follow (which are mostly apparel), so they can give me the best results possible, in regards to sponsored ads.

In terms of buying decisions, I was hesitant because since it is online, you can never be sure it will come as you expected, but it is really convenient, plus, they almost never make mistakes. All the materials are really good, in my opinion, and it’s not too pricey and in my budget, so that’s another advantage.

Influencers are those individuals who have the power to change your mindset, and your behavior and opinions, because of their experience, knowledge, and relationship with the audience, which is why an influencer can also be used for marketing; the consumer has a certain level of trust regarding the influencer, which is why they are prone to at least consider the product or service.

The influencer I chose is an individual with a huge social media presence who started as a YouTuber and had no idea that she would become so big as to even sponsor products. The Youtuber-turned-celebrity I chose is Lilly Singh. She grew by creating content online on YouTube, and now has over 100K subscribers and followers on all the major social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, etc. In fact, I have been following/watching her since I was a kid. If searched up, it will being you a bunch of results.

She has a major personal impact on me, since she has amazing traits, but she did not always use to be so successful or happy. She had no idea that she would become so successful once she made her first video, and it has a lesson in there; which is also what she keeps saying, is to keep believing, and keep going, even if it feels like there is no hope, because there is success on the other side. She used to be very depressed actually, and I can relate to that because we both used to be, and it took years to finally love ourselves and be genuinely happy. She taught me to never lose hope and always feel empowered and confident, because that can go a long way.

Now, she does market some existing products, but she also has her own product line! Ranging from apparel to jewelry, most of them called, or, with the tagline, GirlLove. She also has quite a few products about loving yourself.

Not only is she a very positive and optimistic person, so she does share her experiences and the lessons she learnt in her YouTube videos, but she also believes in a lot of great matters, and state of affairs including women empowerment, which recently and still has been the ‘big talk of town.’ Her role in marketing is PR, which is providing entertainment, while making product lines.

For this assignment, we were required to pick two websites and compare and contrast the navigation and web designs of both. First, let me start with what exactly the purpose of a website is:

A website is an aspect of digital media that makes it easier for consumers/ customers to find what they need in a simple, easy way. Therefore web design includes the website interface, how the website is exactly designed, SEO, and of course, maintaining it as best as you can. There are plenty more, but I believe that these are the most important.

An aspect of web design is navigation which is the most important part. It is crucial for your website viewers to easily find what they are looking for, and should not be complicated at all as the visitors will not only be aware of other content, but it will also keep them coming back. If your site does not have good navigation, it will be hard to get them to come back and not just click the ‘back’ button and go to another site.

The two sites that I picked to compare are, http://arngren.net/, and https://www.swiss.com/ca/en. (the URLS)

Talking about the first site, the navigation itself is okay, since you CAN click a picture of a car and it takes you to the description, however, there are many grammar mistakes in the description, which will make it hard to read and it is not clear what language the makers want the website to be, since it is half English, half something else. Also, the website itself is very crowded, and not spaced out properly which will also make it hard to navigate. The wording is all off as well, and when I was on this website try to navigate, I found it really difficult too, and my first impression of it was not good.

Unlike the first site, the second one that I went on, was a breeze. It is a flight website. and you just know that when you will first go on it. It has a clear menu and header, and it is spaced out, so it is very simple to see what you wanna do, or where you wanna go. Adding on, if you click on anything in the menu, it takes you to another page, which is also very simple and to the point. Easy! As it is rightly said, ‘Navigation is more than just the menu, it’s a signpost to users to the most relevant parts of the site.’ This site even has a option for what language you want to site to be and a Login and everything you need for a good website, and of course, great navigation!

For my search assignment, I searched up about Samsung phones, some of it being the newest phone that released. I searched up about three results, which was:

1. Samsung s9 reviews
2. benefits of Samsung over iPhone
3. are Samsung phones good quality

I noticed a lot of differences between my three searches. In the first search, there was four paid ads/Adwords on the very top, and there was a suggestion in between for what people also search for, and then it went on to organic searches, plus, a few videos on why exactly this type of phone is great, in terms of reviews.

The second one was all organic search, and no videos or paid/sponsored ads, while the third search result basically just had some images of Samsung phones on the top, plus an explanation on one of the Samsung phones (Galaxy A5), then other asked questions, and finally went to organic results.

However, the most similar thing about all of these is, because of SEO, which is search engine optimization, the most reliable answers are either on the top or the front page. To have good SEO, it is very important to have keywords that the target market might search for. For example, instead of Samsung, individuals might search it while misspelling Samsung, When I searched that up, it gave me some of the same results as when I correctly spelled it so that is something to think about.

After all it is Google’s job to give the best possible answers, and the most relevant. I noticed that even though every result was different, it really was helping to figure out a decision. This can be related to marketing as one of the most important aspects of marketing is to find out what your consumers or target market is looking for. Search ensures that your website will be found by your target market, and it will expand your base since anyone in the world can find results. In other words it has a great reach and frequency.. The amount of traffic is free, which is another factor to consider.
